Privacy Policy

PlateMacro is a mobile application available on iOS, published by Mohammed Boushaba. The internal iOS project and bundle may also be referred to as MacroTrack.

PlateMacro helps users log food, review macros, manage adaptive calorie targets, scan barcodes, read nutrition labels with OCR, estimate meals from photos, log meals by voice, save favorites and recents, view progress charts, and use PlateMacro Plus subscription features.

Food logs, weight entries, favorites, recents, targets, and profile data stay on device in SwiftData and local app storage. This local data is not uploaded to PlateMacro servers as part of normal food logging.

You can reset local app data in PlateMacro from the in-app settings. Deleting the app may also remove local app data, subject to iOS behavior and device backups.

AI Scan sends a meal photo only when you start that action and only to estimate nutrition information. Voice Log sends a transcript only when you use voice logging. AI estimates are shown for your review before anything is saved to your food log.

AI features are not processed entirely on device. PlateMacro routes AI requests through production Supabase-hosted services and uses OpenRouter as a backend AI provider. AI requests may therefore be processed by third-party services at a high level to provide the requested estimate.

AI access, Sign in with Apple, App Attest and DeviceCheck, StoreKit subscription and entitlement checks, usage quota, and provider telemetry run through production Supabase-hosted services.

These services are used to authenticate signed-in AI users, protect the backend from abuse, verify device or app integrity where available, check Plus entitlement status, enforce usage quota, and monitor provider reliability.

When you sign in for AI access, PlateMacro may receive account identifiers and email address information from Sign in with Apple through Supabase Auth.

For abuse prevention and entitlement checks, PlateMacro may process device or installation identifiers, App Attest or DeviceCheck results, subscription product identifiers, transaction identifiers in hashed form, subscription status, usage counts, request identifiers, provider, model, token, latency, cost, and error metadata.

When you choose AI Scan or Voice Log, the meal photo, spoken-audio transcript, or other meal description can contain food, nutrition, or health-related information. PlateMacro sends that content only to provide the AI estimate you requested.

Manual food search and barcode lookup use Open Food Facts to return product matches. Search terms and barcode values are sent only for the lookup you request and are not tied to your PlateMacro AI account by PlateMacro.

PlateMacro does not use collected data for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Signing in with Apple is used for AI-related account access and may provide an Apple account identifier and relay email address. If you are signed in for AI features, you can delete your AI account from PlateMacro Settings.

Deleting your AI account removes the server-side AI account relationship controlled by PlateMacro, but it does not reset local food logs on your device and does not cancel Apple App Store subscriptions.

PlateMacro Plus subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. Subscription purchase, renewal, cancellation, refund, and billing management are handled by Apple.

Deleting your AI account in PlateMacro does not cancel an active Apple subscription. Manage or cancel subscriptions separately in your Apple ID or App Store subscription settings.

Camera access is used for barcode scanning, nutrition-label OCR, and AI photo scan when you choose to use those features.

Microphone and speech recognition access are used for Voice Log so spoken meal details can be converted into text for logging. The transcript, not a saved voice recording, is what PlateMacro sends for AI meal parsing. These permissions are requested only for features that need them, and you can change permissions in iOS Settings.

You can reset local app data in PlateMacro from the in-app settings. Signed-in AI users can delete their AI account from Settings. Apple subscriptions must be managed separately in the App Store.

Because core food logs and profile data are stored locally on device, PlateMacro cannot recover local data that you delete or reset.

PlateMacro uses third-party services at a high level for Apple sign-in and subscriptions, Supabase-hosted backend services, OpenRouter-backed AI estimation, Apple speech recognition, and Open Food Facts product lookup. Their processing is limited to the services needed for the features you choose to use.

PlateMacro is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

PlateMacro uses platform security features and backend protections such as App Attest or DeviceCheck where available. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we use reasonable measures appropriate to the app's services.

We may update this policy if PlateMacro features, service providers, or data practices change. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
